The Landscape of Lubuskie

Survey questionnaire

Project for the Lubuskie Region

The results obtained in the EO-BALP-CCN1 project are intended for end users — specialists from the Lubuskie Province who work in fields involving the use of geospatial data and Earth Observation (EO) products.

To this end, a thematic survey has been developed, aimed at staff at regional and local institutions and organisations dealing directly or indirectly with issues relating to regional development in the broadest sense, environmental protection, land use and spatial planning in the Lubuskie Province.

The survey questionnaire included questions on knowledge of geospatial data, the type of data most frequently used, general questions relating to knowledge of ecosystem services and landscape units, and specific questions concerning the proposed geoinformation products.

The survey was conducted online using Google Forms. Invitations to take part were sent out via email as part of an email campaign addressed to several hundred selected specialists from across the province.

Scope of information collected:

  • general questions regarding the types and sources of spatial data used by respondents,
  • Likert-scale statements used to assess attitudes and levels of agreement regarding key aspects of the use and requirements of geoinformation data and selected ecosystem service products,
  • thematic questions focusing on awareness and understanding of landscape features and ecosystem services selected for the project,
  • binary (yes/no), single-choice and multiple-choice questions, designed to identify users’ practices and their preferences regarding the expected data format,
  • questions regarding personal data, which is provided once consent has been given for its processing (first name and surname, organisation, role, email address).

Objectives of the survey:

  • an assessment of the extent to which geoinformation is used in the institutions represented by the respondents,
  • identifying users’ needs and preferences regarding data and ecosystem services,
  • to determine the potential for utilising landscape features in the respondents’ professional activities,
  • indication of the most desirable formats for the data to be made available,
  • gathering feedback and requirements that may influence the final form of the project’s deliverables.
